Vehicle Purchase Requirements for Immigrants & Non-US Citizens
Immigrants can purchase a car in North Carolina using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or passport if they lack a Social Security Number (SSN). Key requirements include North Carolina auto insurance, a valid driver’s license (or temporary certificate), proof of residency, and for registration, a completed title and notarized documents.
